Admission of interns
Each area accepts one intern per year. In total, a maximum of eight interns are accepted per term. However, due to the school’s internal development (German International Abitur, German Language Diploma), this number is reduced in the second term. Admission takes the following into account:
- Per term, the school can host a maximum of 8 interns. Excessive concentration in particular subjects must be avoided.
- Start of the internship period: first term, second week of March; second term, second week of September.
- The application deadline is 30 March for the first term of the following school year and 30 October for the second term of the following school year.
- Applicants who have already completed an internship at another German school abroad will not be given priority, so that more candidates have the opportunity to gain international experience.
- The selection of interns is made by the internship coordinator.
Requirements
Student teachers wishing to complete an internship at the AvH school must meet the following requirements, or bear them in mind when applying:
- Communication skills.
- At least four completed university semesters.
- Previous practical experience in schools within Germany.
- Willingness to teach classes.
- Basic knowledge of Spanish.
- The minimum duration of the internship is six weeks.
- Internships are not possible in Politics or Latin, as these subjects are not taught at the school.
- Spanish is offered only as an observation subject (Hospitation).
